NET CYBER HEADS CERTIFIED TO IEC 60335-2-40:2018 – ANNEX LL
IEC 60335-2-40 is presently being used as the basis for the design, evaluation, testing and certification of HVAC equipment using Low GWP refrigerants (A1, A2L, A2 and A3 as defined by ISO 817).
IEC 60335-2-40 deals with the safety of electric heat pumps, sanitary hot water heat pumps and air conditioners, incorporating motor-compressors as well as hydronic fan coils units, dehumidifiers (with or without motor-compressors), thermoelectric heat pumps and partial units.
Of course, one of the main risks associated with IEC 60335-2-40 equipment is refrigerant leakage, and therefore refrigerant leak detection systems are critical in mitigating such risk and mandatory for systems exceeding a prescribed refrigerant charge limit.
The refrigerant leak detection systems must include sensors as well as control electronics, to timely activate means able to disperse, dilute or block refrigerant in the event of a leak, such as fans and circulated air, and prevent buildup of dangerous concentrations.
The NET Cyber Heads, both in their stainless steel and plastic versions, have been recently declared conform to Annex LL of IEC 60335-2-40:2018, which defines performance requirements for Refrigerant Leak Detection Systems.
However, tests have been performed on XIN/DIN versions and, as of yet, not on Full Cyber versions. Conformity for Full Cyber versions will be available in 2024. XIN/DIN are a version of our Cyber Heads with electronic transmitter providing 4-20mA and RS-485 Modbus RTU outputs, specifically designed for NET’s range of NDIR sensors. Therefore, IEC 60335-2-40 compliant Cyber Heads can be equipped with the full range of IRNET PRO, IREF PRO and IREF LITE solutions, covering now more than 40 different common refrigerant gases.
XIN/DIN certified heads have also been recently included in our SIL2 Functional Safety assessment renewal.
